This is the second webinar of the three-part series, “Fundamentals of Asylum Law.”
In many cases, success in an asylum application turns on whether the adjudicator finds the applicant to be credible. This webinar will discuss the legal standards for assessing credibility and which factors the adjudicator can and cannot consider when determining whether an applicant is credible. We will provide specific pointers on how practitioners can best prepare their clients to provide testimony in order to minimize the risk of an adverse credibility finding. We will also discuss the legal standards for corroboration, discussing how certain corroborating evidence can support an asylum claim as well as how representatives can argue for asylum eligibility even in the absence of corroborating evidence.
