Join this 2-part legal series on the deportation crisis facing the Southeast Asian community, members of the largest refugee resettlement program in US history. This webinar series is open to all immigration attorneys nationally, new and experienced, who are interested in learning more about the Southeast Asian deportation crisis, legal strategies that are instrumental in fighting deportations, and partnering with us to provide legal support and representation to Southeast Asian community members facing removal.

Part 1:  Wednesday, October 21 at 12:00 – 2:00 pm CST 

  • Overview of the Southeast Asian Community’s Refugee Experience, Socheatta Meng, Director, Southeast Asian Defense Project
  • Motions to Reopen, Aimee Mayer-Salins, Staff Attorney, Defending Vulnerable Populations Program at Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC)

Part 2: Thursday, November 12, time TBA

  • Overview of How Criminal Records Affect Immigration Relief, Speaker TBA
  • Pardons and Post-Conviction Relief, Speaker TBA

This webinar series offers CLE credit for New York attorneys. Part 1 on October 21 will offer 1.5 credits in Skills for transitional and non-transitional attorneys; and 0.5 credits in Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias for non-transitional attorneys. CLE credit for Part 2 will be announced at a later date. Attorneys in other states are welcome to attend this series, but will have to seek CLE credit through the state where they are admitted.
