
Please join the Houston Immigration Legal Services Collaborative’s Crime Victims Working Group and the Victim Services Division of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for a U Visa Training (CLE pending) on February 27, 2019, from 1pm to 4pm at the South Texas College of Law Houston.
This three-hour training will cover what it means to be a “victim,” what type of crimes are qualifying criminal activity, and the other eligibility requirements of a U Visa. It will cover what must be included in the application, common grounds of inadmissibility, the U Visa waiver, and the most common pitfalls.
The Victim Services Division of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office will present their procedures for requesting a certification letter. The training will also cover potential ethical challenges of representing victims of domestic abuse and other crimes, as well as tactics for overcoming those challenges.
