This role is responsible for the core operations and strategic functions of our Deportation Defense Program in Florida, updating training tools and resources for community defense. The overall work will be driven by the topics and values:

  1. Deportation Defense Program Development and Implementation
    1. Facilitation of Deportation Defense Trainings and curriculum
    2. Know Your Rights/ Know Your Power Workshops and actualization of materials
    3. Curriculum building and facilitation that advances program goals
    4. Community Protection Tools and Resources
      1. Actualization and roll out  of our program tools including: Notifica, MIgraWatch Hotline
    5. Development of training materials and guides for Deportation Defense Organizing that aligns with organizational visions and values
    6. Develops trainings for the Program that reflect the current state of the enforcement apparatus
  2. Deportation Case Organizing
    1. Identifies and leads organizing case campaigns that advance our organizational goals to abolish ICE/CBP.
      1. This includes identifying key case campaigns or supporting policy campaigns that advance local and state goals where we have membership through states and affiliates
    2. Connects case organizing campaigns to state and national teams for support and in coordination with digital, advocacy, communication and organizing to advance organizational goals.

  3. Enforcement Strategy
    1. In coordination with Program Manager, State Advocacy Director, Advocacy to connect campaigns and directly impacted members to our efforts engaging local elected officials and decision-makers in defunding and disrupting the deportation force
    2. Support in building analysis and strategy for the program in coordination with Program Director responding to short-term and long-term organizational goals
  4. Internal Organization Support
    1. Develops and implements training materials about risk assessment of direct actions, mobilizations, and staff support in the coordination of legal consultants.
    2. Collaborate in actions and mobilizations on the ground with training in safety and security, leading teams supporting direct action and building out a network of trained leaders to take on roles and responsibilities to safety and security in organizing.
  5. This position requires travel between 30-40%. Applicant must be able to book within 24-48 hours of notice.
